VIOOL DAYS ALMERE Day 1: “The World of the Violin in Cultuurhuis” is an inspiring evening in which three violinists bring one instrument to life: Igor Ruhadze, Mathieu van Bellen and Daria Gorban. You experience just how surprisingly versatile the violin can sound, from intimate baroque to dizzying virtuosity. With short introductions by the musicians themselves, as a visitor you feel directly involved in every musical story that unfolds on stage.

Igor Ruhadze opens with Bach's solo music, after which alternating duets with, among others, Telemann reveal a lively musical conversation. Mathieu van Bellen closes with Ysaÿe's ‘Ballade’, Milstein's ‘Paganiniana’ and Ernst's ‘Erlkönig’: one violin that at times sounds like a whole ensemble. You don't need to know anything about classical music to enjoy it — let yourself be surprised and experience a wonderful night out.
